Why Your 30s Are the Best Time of Life

Turning 30 soon and feeling how life will change as you walk into a new decade? Well, embrace yourself because this is going to be the best time of your life!

Trust me when I say this, I turned 30 a couple of months back and I’m yet to fully sink into the adulting life – but I can vouch for the fact that the 30s are definitely gonna be better than the 20s!

Saying ‘goodbye’ to my 20s felt a bit too overwhelming initially – the main reason for that was most of my friends and peers were getting hitched, while I didn’t want to walk the aisle.

I gifted myself a solo trip to Sri Lanka as I turned 30 – and it was one of my best trips ever. I learned to fall in love with myself – and I realized that after years of niggling self-doubt and insecurity, I suddenly feel more grounded.

Through our 20s, we tend to experiment a lot with life (and I did that too!) in order to figure out what we really want to do. We fall in love and fall out of love pretty easily. We made decisions impulsively and quite often, become emotionally vulnerable.

But as we step into our 30s, we are mature enough to avoid the mistakes we’ve made when we were young and we start taking life a little more seriously.

While it might sound like a very big deal to ‘turn 30’, know that there are a huge array of positives that comes with living in your 30s.

Here’s why your 30s will be the best time of your life:

1. You’re financially independent and in charge of your own decisions.

While most of us start working in our 20s, we usually slog for long hours with minimal pay and have to put in a lot more than what we reap. But as you turn older, your work experience also gets pumped up, and your earnings will surely jump up along with a sense of career satisfaction.

It has been seen that people are happier in their 30s when it comes to work, as it comes with promotions, perks, and long-term goal setting. Many of us learn to sync our passion and profession, while some choose to become digital nomads. To say the least, in our 30s, we gain the confidence to go against the status quo.

2. You stop caring about what others have to say about you!

When we are young, we worry a lot about what others will say about our decisions or actions. We fear getting judged, and that hinders our overall growth. But as you walk into your 30s, you’ll realize that it doesn’t really matter what others have to say about us.

We tend to become more carefree and confident in making a choice. You come to understand that the idea of perfection is relative and that people’s reactions and responses are rarely to do with you and almost always down to whatever is going on in their own lives.

Here’s how you can learn to stop caring about what others think of you.

3. You’ll have better friendships.

I am still in touch with friends from school and college, but now, I feel I can connect more with people I’ve met recently, on a solo trip or through an acquaintance.

The friends you’ll make in your 30s would be more or less of the same age, settled in their lives, and know what they are looking for. They would be calmer and more composed, and you’ll have a space to share deeper thoughts than just partying around.

As you’ll grow older, you’ll know that quality is more important than quantity, and the few friends you’ll have will be making a deeper impact on your life.

4. You’ll become more resilient in life.

With every passing year, you’ll tend to become more resilient. While every turn in your 20s will hold a new challenge – and you’d always feel that life is an emotional roller-coaster, your 30s will bring in more peace as you’d have gone through this process enough times to have a deep, resounding faith in yourself.

New experiences will bring you closer to yourself. You’d know that nothing in life stops for anyone. You’ll move on after the break-up you think you’ll never recover from. You’ll deal with your anxieties and still know how to smile.

You’ll dance your way through difficult days and brush off small setbacks. Precisely, you’ll know that you deserve better in life, no matter what.

5. You’ll get to do whatever you want.

Stepping into your 30s will be that ‘Eat Pray Love’ moment for you when you can just flap your wings and fly high. I’ve been traveling solo in my 20s as well, but I realized that now I’m more confident about taking impromptu decisions than ever before.

In your 30s, you’ll have a deeper knowledge of who you are and what you like, you start interrogating the choices you never even thought to question before. If you feel like quitting your job to become an entrepreneur, go ahead and do it. Or just pack your bags and set out for that adventure you’ve been craving for.

This is the time in life when your energy is at its peak, and you should make the most of it. I recently took a solo trip to Bangladesh to trace my roots and explore the land from where my grandparents came, and it indeed felt wonderful.

6. You can create memories while on an adult gap year!

When we think of gap years, what mostly comes to our mind is the 18-year-old with a backpack dreaming of exploring Southeast Asia! But after nearly two decades, when you’re steering through your 30s and have a little more money to spend, you can plan to set out on an adult gap year and tick off your bucket-list destinations, such as Machu Picchu in Peru or Great Barrier Reef in Australia!

Your way of traveling will change as you age, you’ll learn to go slow and spend more time in one place. You’ll enjoy the local vibes more than ever, and understand the true meaning of ‘spending on experiences than on material objects’!

7. You’ll be at peace with your own body.

In our 20s, we often struggle to fit ourselves into the norms of society, but in our 30s, we tend to learn how to truly accept ourselves for who we are. You wouldn’t inherently beat yourself up over your imperfections, and even when you do try to make improvements, you make those choices from a healthy place.

You’ll fall in love with your own skin, no matter how dark you are or how many blemishes you have. You won’t be scared to don that bikini or to drape that saree you’ve always loved.
